123 Challenge Blog!

The December challenge over @ 123 Challenge Blog is...

Lucky for me I had some Ranger 'watermelon' paint on hand, which I used that to paint up my tags & with my stencil in the background. I also found some really, really old frames I've had lying around as they matched perfectly with the distress paint I used to stamp in...I didn't intend to have quite so much blue ;)

This is a photo of my husband at about 6 years of age...what a cutie ;)

Check out what the rest of the team did HERE, they are beautiful!

The Color Room presents HeART & Soul

Hello...so sorry for the delay getting the monthly challenges up. I've been laid up in bed with an awful stomach bug :( feeling a bit sore & sorry for myself at the moment.

Sadly this is the last month for The Color Room & it's gorgeous palette's. I've thoroughly enjoyed my time with this amazing international team, their creations are totally inspiring & it's been fabulous to be a part of it! A huge thank you to Cynthia Llorens for initially inviting me & Lydell Quin for welcoming me to the group...I'm very sorry it's over. With that, I hope you'll all join in this last month...it's certainly a fabulous colour palette.

I love using tissue paper on layouts & always have plenty on hand because I actually do wrap & decorate gift bags with it, so this was a no-brainer for the household item ;)

I've used paint on my background...the silver added with a palette knife, red with stencil & blue & silver with stamps. I love my distress paints with stencils...unfortunately the red bled a bit as the sponge was damp...ooops!

Check out the gorgeous creations from the rest of the DT HERE...as I said before, I do hope you'll join us this month.

Scrapping catch-up...

This layout was started at retreat last month, I just had to add finishing touches. The photo was taken by Hirsty Photography...such AMAZING photos! I'm a huge, huge fan of his work, following him on both Facebook & Instagram...LOL I sound like a bit of a stalker, but promise it's all innocent ;) He's inspired me to get myself out there more often & take photos on my camera. I've still got a lot to learn, but as they say...practice makes perfect! Who knows, I may one day take a pic as breathtaking as his :)

This chipboard from WOW was perfect for this photo. I embossed it in gold & added highlights of sunburst H2O's...am now thinking it may have been better embossed in black, but...

Here's a close up of some of the details.

This next layout is another completed at retreat, a very personal one for me...a bit of personal therapy to release & record the past few months. I wanted to keep it simple with lots of white space, keeping the photo in focus with hidden journaling behind on a tag.

Oddly enough, it's photographed rather dark?, it is on a white background & is naturally a bit lighter.

The Color Room.

Hello, hello...I can not believe where this month has gone!!! It's seriously gone in a blink of an eye, yikes!...making me a super slack blogger, these shares have been sitting for a bit :( sorry.

Over at The Color Room this month they have a gorgeous palette to work with. It's not my month, but I loved it so much that I had to have a play.

I had started this layout on black cardstock, but the colours lost their vibrancy so started again on white. Your household item this month was paper towels which I painted & placed behind the photo.

Photo credit to Sharryn Thomson, she snapped this gorgeous pic while at the Delights Retreat in September & it was one I simply had to scrap! These two lovely ladies have had a huge impact & influence on my scrapping...they are true gems!

Here is a close up of the painted paper towels & my background. I simply played with this background, I tried not to over-think ;) I thought the vibrancy matched these two gorgeous ladies perfectly.

Show Us Your Stuff November challenge!

Eeck! November already...how scary is that!!! Time seems to be flying so fast, I'd really love to slow it down just a bit. The great thing about a new month is new challenges to get your creative brain into. Over at Show Us Your Stuff they have a fabulous challenge created by the lovely Amanda Hartman. I loved this challenge, you have so many choices...you can either stick with a style you know or challenge yourself with something outside your comfort zone.

This is my take on the challenge...

I went with the word; love, embellishment; button, technique; stenciling & a square photo size.
Here is a close up of my handmade tissue paper flower with the button used in the centre.

Check out the gorgeous creations from the other DT HERE. I do hope you'll join us this month.

Retreat scrapping!

Last weekend I was lucky enough to be at retreat! I'm not always very productive at retreats...I think I get overly distracted, but this time I'm very pleased with what I acheived. I even managed a layout on the 1st night ;)
Here is some of what I did...

I totally loved this super bright range from Basic Grey. I added a bit of water colours to the background, along with some stamping.

I had actually created the frame background for a previous challenge using Kaszazz watercolour crayons. I've added the pink squares with gelatos & stamping using the gelatos as well. The tissue paper is from the packaging from T2...it was too good to throw away! I thought this 'dress form' from Dusty Attic was perfect with this too.

Lastly for today...it's sooo good to finally scrap this photo, taken by Jen Hall, from Camp Mojo 2013. Haha only took a year to scrap ;) I gesso'd book paper in the background & the used a combination of glimmer mists, allowing them to run in each direction. The greenish spots are a combination of gelato colours. It's a really simple layout, but I love how it turned out.

Scrap Around the World challenge.

I simply adored the mood board over at Scrap Around The World this month...though I normally do ;) Isn't it gorgeous...

This is my take on the inspiration...

At the recent Delights retreat, a number of the ladies were playing with various 'Bloom' girls. What they did was so inspiring that I had to purchase one myself. Here I've mixed black paint & texture paste together & used with the stencil. I then coloured her in using watered down dylusions & a paint brush. Then with more texture paste & blue dylusions mixed together, I created a paste for the butterflies. This mixture was a bit thin or watery with the dylusions, so the butterflies did 'bleed' a bit. I think I personally prefer the mix of paint & texture paste for next time.

PS. There is still a couple more days to get your entries in for Show Us Your Stuff & 123 Challenge Blog, if you haven't already done so...we'd love to see your take on the challenges.

Show us your Stuff!

Good morning! This month over @ Show us your Stuff, team member Chloe created a fabulous sketch for you all to create with. I love a good sketch, it takes a lot of the thinking out ;) Remember with your sketch, you also need to include a handmade item.

I found this sketch super easy to work with...this is my take on it...

My handmade items are the fabric flower from Forever Always...been saving that for a while ;) & the gorgeous flair from Flutterby Designs. You'll notice a lot of their flairs featuring on my layouts of late...I'm absolutely loving them! :)

Also happy that I managed to get through some really old Basic Grey papers & lettering. I seriously hoard too much!
Pop over HERE to see the gorgeous creations from the rest of the team, I love everyone's take on this sketch. I do hope you'll join us this month.

HeART & Soul presented by The Color Room.

Another gorgeous colour palette over @ The Color Room this month...

As well as the colour palette, your household item of use is a credit card. I used the credit card to apply my painted background.

Check HERE for the gorgeous inspiration from the rest of the team, they are amazing!
Thanks for stopping by...more monthly challenges will be posted soon.

October 123 Challenge Blog.

Another month has past...they are seriously going too quickly! This month I'm challenging myself to participate in more scrap challenges, so if you have any to recommend...let me know, I would love to hear from you.
I hope you'll all join in over @ 123 Challenge Blog this month...I had a lot of fun creating my layout for this one...

A close up of my details...

I initially created a watercolour background adding some stamping in both distress & stazon ink. To create a bolder effect I then heat embossed the swirls.

Retreat layouts!

As mentioned in the previous post, I was lucky enough to go to the Delights Retreat at the beginning of the month. I didn't get a great deal of scrapping done...had been sick & I tend to get very distracted at retreats ;)
I'm sure you can already pick who's class this one was for...the very vibrant Lisa Oxley! I so love her style & she is a simply gorgeous lady! It was fabulous to get some colour happening :)

There were so many surprises over the weekend from the very generous Sandra...here I've used one of the organza bags with ties behind the photo.

This next one was for a challenge...

Gelatos Class at Delights Retreat!

A few weekends ago I was lucky enough to go to the Delights Retreat with the very entertaining Sandra Staples! She held 4 of the most fabulous classes...this layout was inspired or rather 'lifted' from the lovely Leonie ;) I've always been a huge fan of her backgrounds, so it was really fun to see how she created them using Gelatos. Haha let's say...I'm now the proud owner of some ;)

You can see samples of her brilliant background class HERE.
I will hopefully get to share more of my classes soon...sadly not much time to play lately :/

123 Challenge Blog - September Mid Month reveal.

The mid-month reveal is up over @ 123 Challenge Blog...to see the reveal, look HERE.

A reminder of the challenge...khaki, "emphasise" & hidden jounaling.

Here is my take on the challenge...

I actually struggled to find a lot of khaki, but have loved that I've used some really old papers that has been collecting for a while ;) My hidden journaling is in the envelope with the tags. Haha I also struggled with the title, but finally came up with "one cannot emphasise enough the importance of pausing to enjoy the moment"...a rather long winded one, but it suits this photo taken on the stairs of the 'National Museum of China' overlooking Tiananmen Square...a freakishly long time ago!

Monthly challenges!

Hello, hello...where has this month gone??? Have you seen this months challenge over at HeART & Soul presented by The Color Room...it's certainly a gorgeous palette!

It's not my month as DT to participate, but I loved this palette so much that I had to give it a go. You also needed to include 'toothpicks' somehow. I had great ideas with the toothpicks, but ended up simply using them as flags ;) which I used more like a bunting, rather than flag.

I created the background with Tim Holtz distress paints, which was spread around with a brayer. Check out the amazing creations from the team HERE & have a go!

The challenge over at 123 Challenge Blog is...the colour; khaki, the word 'emphasise' & the technique of hidden journaling.

My full reveal will be posted any day, but in the meantime...here's a sneak ;)

The sneak highlights the hidden journaling which is in an envelope behind the photo mat. I found I didn't have a great deal of khaki in my stash...it ended up a mix of greens, but there is khaki in there I promise ;) If you haven't already seen the rest of the teams inspiration, you'll find it HERE.

Show us Your Stuff September Challenge!

Hello Spring!!! & it's certainly a beautiful day to match :)

The challenge over @ SUYS certainly reflects the beauty & brilliance of Spring with this beautiful mood board! I simply loved it & found it very inspiring, I hope you do too...it would be lovely to see lots of participants this month :)

Here's what I did...my handmade item are the 3 little flags. Super easy to create with left over papers from the layout.

I had creating the background colour with watercolour paints & my new template from Kaszazz...love it!

Check out the gorgeous inspiration from the rest of the girls HERE. I look forward to seeing your takes on this challenge.

LSBS Retreat scrapping!

Last weekend I was lucky enough to enjoy the LSBS Retreat down in Bowral...simply beautiful! Here's some of what I got done...

I was stuck for a title on this one, it wasn't till I was home the I discovered this title from 2Crafty chipboard, which was simply perfect for my cheeky girl ;)

These papers from Kaisercraft...I simply couldn't go past them! How gorgeous are they!!! After joining in Heidi Swapp's 'selfie' challenge back in May, I thought it would be nice to actually scrap the photo.

Hirsty Photography love!

Good evening...I'm a tad excited to share with you my love of Hirsty Photography & my layout using one of his magical photos! I've been following him on Facebook for a while now...he certainly offers a lot of 'wow' moments with his photography! If you haven't discovered him, you MUST check his page HERE.

The truth is, I've been feeling rather flat the last few months & my scrapping has been the victim :( I needed something to get excited about & one night I joked to my daughter how amazing it would be to scrap a photo by Hirsty! In that moment, I figured it couldn't hurt to ask...LOL I can't tell you how thrilled I was when I received back his answer of "yes", it was just the thing to spark some excitement!

The hardest thing was choosing a photo, but I settled on this one, as it's of my local beach.

Unfortunately I've not been able to capture the shimmer I managed to get here using various colours of 'Inka Gold' which I discovered at the Little Scrapbook Shop retreat over the weekend...brilliant stuff! I think between us all we bought out the whole lot!

Thank you for stopping by...as always, a huge thank you for your lovely comments. They do mean the world to me & I appreciate the time you take to leave me one x
