Exciting news to share...

Late last year I was completely blown away & honoured to be asked by the lovely Cynthia Llorèns to join the Scrap for Help DT! As it turns out, Scrap for Help & The Color Room have merged & I'm now part of the HeArt & Soul DT...yay!, still pinching myself ;)

I couldn't wait to start when I saw this gorgeous palette...so pretty & not normally something I would use.

My take on this challenge...

As well as the colour palette, you need to use a household item, which this month is 'junk mail'.

When this brochure came through the mail, I knew it was perfect! I've put it through the 'big shot' to create a scalloped circle which I placed behind the photo mat.

Check out the amazing creations from the DT here, so much gorgeous inspiration!
Thank you for stopping by...& as always, a huge thank you for your lovely comments, I really appreciate each & every one!
Happy scrapping!

123 Challenge Blog!

Good morning all, I hope you are all enjoying the weekend!
I know the month is almost gone, but here is the February challenge for 123! You have till the 22nd of March to get it in. I hope you give it a go...I absolutely loved playing with this criteria :)

The colour purple, the word 'spirit' & anything that gives 'texture'...too easy & right up my alley ;)

...& a close up of my masking with texture paste & fussy cutting. The Heidi Swapp elements worked perfectly with my colours, again using really old papers...I'm determined to get through them!

Check out the teams gorgeous creations for this challenge here! Remember, you do have extra time with this one...I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

Show Us Your Stuff!

Have you joined this months challenge over @ SUYS yet? If you are needed more inspiration, look here for the rest of the teams layouts.

A reminder firstly of our challenge! This month is a ‘Love’ quote, and of course we would like to see a handmade item on your page (can be handmade by somebody else!)!
The quote…

I simply adored Catie's creation of this, so much so, that I had a go at recreating this for my background using Dylusion mists.

I had a lot of fun creating this...I do love the intensity of colour that the Dylusions give. Add a free-hand drawn heart...which I have to say was balanced before adding stuff on top! LOL that's something I learnt, maybe do the drawing after, the lope-sidedness bothers me ;) must be that anal-retentive side of me haha! In the pocket of this layout I've written down my goals for the year...now to keep focused on them! This is an old photo of me, one that I use a lot, but the person who took it inspires me & simply makes me smile...that's something to be treasured :)
Thank you for stopping by, I look forward to seeing your take on this challenge! Thank you, as always for your lovely comments, I do appreciate them x

Supreme Scrap Tournament Challenge # 2

I have to confess I'm very surprised & honoured to still be in this competition...the talent is truly amazing!

Challenge # 2 was certainly that!!! Supreme Scrap Tournament Challenge # 2 is...

Make a monochromatic colour layout

  • 1. Pages :                         2 pages Layout (double page!)
  • 2. Theme:                         You can choose your own theme
  • 3. Colour LO:                   The monochromatic color scheme you use is up to you
  • 4. How many Photos:        Minimum of 1 photo
  • 5. Photos:                         - One photo must be partly on the left and partly on the right page                                                         -  One photo needs to be black and white
  • 6. Not to be used:              - You are restricted from using black anywhere on the layout including, ink, paint, pen lines, journaling or any other elements.
  •         - There is not to be black on the page with the exception of your black and white photo(s).
  •         - You can not use brown to antique elements unless brown is the colour you choose for your                 monochromatic colour scheme.
  • 7. Materials you may use:   embellishments, ink, media stuff, everything that you want in the monochromatic colour

LOL I can't believe I've just done my 2nd double layout within a week! My real issue is that I normally use a kraft of white cardstock for my background & I really struggled to find two pieces of paper the same, add to that so many patterned papers had other colours in them. I finally settled on Tim Holtz Distress range, & with the addition of his inks, everything blended well together. I couldn't even use my beloved mists as they also had gold or silver highlights ;)

Here is a close up of the paint, stamping & inking that I used to create interest in the background.

Thanks for stopping by...as always, a huge thank you for all your lovely comments! I would certainly love to hear what you think of my monochromatic layout! :)

February Kraft It Up challenge!

I've been hanging out to share my layout for this months KIU challenge...I had a lot of fun creating it!

This months challenge is to create a layout on kraft or kraft patterned paper about something YOU love...

I have to confess, I don't allow myself enough time to do my beach walks...I'm hoping to change that!
I created the background by stamping & embossing in white, there is also a bit of gesso with a mask. The double hearts were created using the left-over piece of the very gorgeous Imaginarium chipboard. I firstly used texture paste, which I embossed with an antique gold.

Check out the new DT & their creations here...I'm very honoured to still be a part of this amazing team! :)
Thanks for stopping by...& thank you for your lovely comments, I do appreciate each & every one of them.

Show us your Stuff!

The February challenge for Show Us Your Stuff is certainly a gorgeous one! I had a lot of fun creating the layout for this challenge.

With February being the ‘love’ month, we couldn’t go past this awesome quote for you to scrap!! Remember you also need to add a handmade item (by you or somebody else) on your page/card/PL layout!! (If doing PL, we would like to see a full page, not just one card!)
Now the quote… (The very cool background was created by our super talented Catie with her gelatos!!)

I simply have a sneak of my layout at this stage, full reveal later in the month...this is a close up of my handmade heart.

In the meantime, check out the gorgeous creations from the other DT here. I look forward to seeing what you come up with.
Happy scrapping!

Supreme Scrap Tournament 2014

I was very excited to be a part of the Supreme Scrap Tournament that was set up late last year, which was to start this February. Haha Feb 1st came & went...I had completely forgot about it ;) not a great start! When I saw the challenge, which was...

Scrapbooking: 1000 steps from home
Make a double layout or double mixed media project that shows where your live.
But it all has to be within 1000 steps from your home!!!!
For example you could make photos of your favorite tree, busstop, house as long it is within 1000 steps of your home!

- You can not use any spray inkts!
- You will have to use at least 3 photos on your project (scrapbooking and mixed media!!)
- You will have to add a visible journaling of at least 50 words

...LOL it took me a while to get over the shock of NO MISTS & a double!!! I set off to print my photos, I knew exactly what I wanted to do! But before I could start, a few issues had developed over the 'criteria' & there was much confusion! This added a lot of confusion for me & I did what I do best...2nd guess myself! I spent most of the week 'umming & ahhing' over what to do? :/
In the end, I went with my original idea...it has meaning to me & all the family & whatever happens, the layout will be a 'true memory' for the family album.

It is of our favourite tree, which is just off our property, but we call it 'ours'. It's home to a tawny frogmouth who initially hoots every evening till he found a mate. They stayed together in that tree for several months till almost winter when there was no more leaves for protection. It's wonderful to look up & see them snuggling together. Each year they return & we all think it's rather special!

A close up...because a double layout is really hard to see ;)
Thanks for stopping by...we will be uploading the challenges for KIU & 123 very soon. As always, a huge thank you for your lovely comments, I do appreciate them x
