Hello and welcome to July! I have a fabulous bunch of new monthly challenges to share with you today...hehe the month has already got off to it's usual hectic start! ;)
Over at Kraft + they have a gorgeous 'mustard explosion' mood board to inspire you! I love mood boards as they offer such a range of inspiration allowing you to take your pick. I instantly fell in love with this one...so yummy & so much to draw inspiration from!
I was instantly drawn to the circular design, the wood elements, the writing, the hint of white, the metal pieces & the lamp which looked like a bird cage...this is what I did with that.
I started with some Tim Holtz 'mustard seed' paint, then went over it with some Distress 'mustard seed' ink with a circular design stencil to create a subtle background. A hint of stamping using Distress ink & splats of Dylusions spray. Here is a close up...

Next is the challenge over at Show Us Your Stuff!
To be honest, a few years ago this challenge would have freaked me...haha I didn't like my handwriting at all and would always type my journaling on the computer to print it out. I only realised the importance after finding a handwritten shopping list of my dad's tucked in an old recipe book. From then on, I always include handwriting on my layouts.
For my layout I recorded my memories of 'cracker night' growing up. The photo is of my son, as I don't have any photo's of those days myself, but the memories and history is recorded. For the map, I downloaded the current map of the area where I grew up. LOL though there are a few extra streets now ;) My handmade item is the lovely crochet button from my friend Peg...she was a doll and created a few of them for me :)

Lastly is the very bright and fun challenge over at 123 Challenge Blog.
I had bought the fluro pens ages ago from Heidi Swapp and to be honest...hadn't used them until now! They actually worked very well, lovely and smooth.
With the help of a stencil, I coloured in the triangles around the page. I also used the pens to colour in the chipboard frame & on the Flutterby 'naked' flair. I had a bit of Heidi Swapp fluro washi tape too. I kept the layout very simple as to not clash or make it too busy.
