December Blog Challenges!

Seriously...time is flying past way too fast for me!!! I hope you are find some time to give these challenges a go this month, I certainly know how crazy it can be ;)

Kraft It Up challenge is....This month your challenge is to create a layout, "Christmas Themed" using one of the following non traditional colour schemes...

AQUA/KRAFT/WHITE/SILVER

OR

PINK/KRAFT/WHITE/GOLD

Here's my take on the challenge using pink, kraft, white & gold colour combo, with a bit of inspiration from the lovely Gina Rodgers...I simply adore her style.

A close up, though I probably should have got closer ;) of the heat embossed gold doilies...it's such a beautiful stamp!

Over @ 123 Challenge Blog, the challenge is equally festive with...

I had a bit of fun playing with the 'metallic' paint with this layout, though the shine doesn't really come up in the photos sadly, but I'm sure you get the idea :) I also heat embossed in gold.

Kraft It Up November challenge & DT Call!

November challenge for KIU is...
using kraft with any of these trending products; flairs, wood veneers or enamel dots!

I love my wood veneers, so this was a simple choice for me ;)

Scrap the Boys!

While at retreat a couple of weekends ago, I managed to complete a layout for this months challenge over @ STB! The challenge was super simple using a traditional boy colour of BLUE & GREEN :)

ScrapFriends Colour challenge!

Good morning all! I managed some scrapping over the long weekend here...gotta love that ;)
I love the colour challenges over @ ScrapFriends...I don't always make the time, but very thankful I did this month!

I love playing with the Distress Paints & the colours I have were perfect for this challenge...

& a close up of my stamping & template work...plus my gorgeous kids ;)

I also love Dylusions Ink Spray...& someone I always think of when I work with them is Lisa Oxley! I couldn't help but scrap lift this gorgeous lady! Her creations are simply stunning...very vibrant & happy, just like her.

Navy isn't a colour I use a lot, so I really enjoyed playing with something different. There is a bit of inspiration from the lovely Lou here...LOL & I say that very loosely ;) I simply love how she works with paints & I was lucky enough to watch her play at a recent retreat.

A favourite layout...

Hello again :) I can't believe it's now a month since Camp Mojo...eeek! & I still haven't had a chance to finish off all my retreat layouts! This one that I share today is probably one of my favourite's from the weekend...I simply love how it turned out!

The pic is one that my gorgeous sister took on her recent overseas trip. I've used a technique that I learnt with Finnabair while she was in Australia...using clear gel medium with a mask over papered paper & then inking over to highlight the masking.

More to share...

I'm not sure I can really call this "Day 4 share", since I've missed the weekend...it vanished in a blink of the eye!!! Anyways, more retreat layouts...

This one was super easy...I've had this paper for ages, so was keen to finally use it! I loved it just as it was, so simply added a flower & doily...gotta love layouts like that ;) I've realised I need to get more photos of the kids, I seem to be scrapping the same fav's :)

LOL I also need to vary my titles ;) This 2nd layout came together very quickly on the last day of the MOJO retreat...that weekend of 'mojo' must have finally kicked in & this was done in record time! I love these papers from Kaisercraft, it also helps to have the complete kit to work with :)
The next one below was the complete opposite, it came together over the two retreats! I really struggled with the mix of papers & the colours with the b&w photo, but am very pleased to finally have it done, as I love the photo of my 3 together! :)

Can you believe it...I still have more to share, including one of my favourite layout's of the weekend! Hopefully I'll get to finish them & share soon.

Day 3 share...

Third day of retreat layouts...I'm certainly making up for my 'slack blogger' status ;)

The next 2 layouts were actually completed while at retreat...most are still needing little finishing touches :)

I had a lot of fun creating this one, with a bit of influence from Ebony here (trying to replicate her dylusion spots)...though nothing like her amazing style, but I like it anyway! It's the process of simply playing that is the real fun!

& "A man @ 12" using more of MME papers which I adore...who would have thought I would have had use for the moustache, they are very 'in' right now!

Slack blogger catch-up!

As I said in my last post, I've been super slack at the blogging lately. I have been lucky enough to had a couple of weekends away @ retreats over the past couple of months, so it's not like I'm lacking stuff to share, so here's a start.

These photo's weren't the best, slightly fuzzy due to not using a flash & a pocket camera, but I love the pics! I printed them smaller than normal so it wasn't as noticeable.

September Challenges!

Yep...another month is upon us! Good news is it's also Spring...yay! I have to say Spring is my favourite season...uplifting, fresh & new beginnings :)

Kraft It Up!

This month over @ KIU we want to see 'your own style'...obviously on kraft paper ;)

Funny, this challenge had me questioning 'what' my style actually was??? I guess I don't see myself with a 'distinct' style like some of my favourite scrappers. I tend to be a bit random depending on mood & what I'm working with. Here I've used my 'go to' techniques with are layered templates & misting. Oh & you can't forget the doily & the single folded flower...can't see myself ever running out of either, I seem to have a never-ending supply ;)

This is my take using a very precious photo of my great grandmother. I also used this gorgeous frame from 2Crafty that I've been hoarding for a while...I love the look of the crackle on it.

YSMY Challenge!

Last month I watched the 'You Show Me Yours' challenge, it was fantastic to see how everyone scrapped the same photo & thought it was such a brilliant idea! Haha when I saw this months pic, there was absolutely no stopping me...who could resist the very gorgeous & dreamy Hugh Jackman ;)

This is layout, which I might add took a long time...too much gazing ;) I started it at retreat the previous weekend & one of the ladies looking from afar asked 'is that your husband?'...LOL I wish!!!

July 123 Challenge!

The criteria for July over @ 123 Challenge Blog is

It was certainly enjoyable making the most of those worn out jeans, which I used in the Sizzix to create the hearts. Plus I used up some very old papers...I always love that!

July KIU Challenge!

What I love most about challenge blogs is that they can push you out of your comfort zone & this month over @ KIU they do exactly that!
This month your challenge is to create a layout using a different style than you normally create, for example if you are a textured/layered scrapper, try clean & simple.

I went with shabby chic! It was certainly fun to do, I tried channelling a little bit of Heather Jacob here, with the addition of some beautiful pieces I had won from her recently. This style is so very different for me.

My layout for this months KIU 'project life' challenge...

I like the idea of PL, but have struggled with it...I bought all the papers etc. yet have only completed 1 page in the past. I found this a challenge, but really enjoyed the fact that it was on 12x12 & had more flexibility than the PL sleeves ;) I can only guess this has been a challenge for many this month, as the gallery is very light???

Taking some time out!

I'm making more of an effort to squirrel away some time for myself & scrapping :) Again, another layout simply for fun...playing with distress paints & texture paste.

I had created this background a while ago when I first got the paints...I simply love the yellow, it's so fresh & sunny!

Hello Friday!

These weeks are flying past too quick for me :( I thought I would give SBM Masters a go again this year & decided to take an hour each day to do some creative work...seriously, how hard could it be to spare an hour a day!!! Impossible! apparently :( I know there is a lesson here somewhere...time management is certainly not my strong point, nor is saying 'no' ;) Yet to even start my entry.

I guess I should still be grateful for the little time I did get ;)

I'm very excited to be going to Camp Mojo later this year! The lovely Michelle from Scrapbook Divas set a pre-challenge, it was...
1. single layout
2. 2 photos (any size)
3. Heidi Swapp product/s
4. Paint...here's my take on the challenge.

I used the yummy Distress Paints with Loolabelle's Arty Stuff feather stamp...I love how it turned out. Funny how after I've completed this challenge, I keep finding more & more Heidi Swapp products...didn't realise how much I had squirreled away!

This next layout is simply for fun! I had an idea of what I wanted to do with these photos straight away. Again, I've used the Distress Paints here...I simply love them :)

Weekend scrapping!

What I love most about rainy weekends...that this somehow gives me an excuse to stay in & scrap! :)
I had started this layout a few months ago at retreat, so it was fabulous to finally finish it off.
I'm loving these Heidi Swapp folders, yes they certainly take a lot of time to complete a layout...it's like a single & double all in one! I love that I can hide a lot of photos & journaling inside. As my kids grow older, they are less keen on some of the traditional photos I insist on taking, especially on Christmas day! Inside here is all the photos from our day, including the early morning opening presents in their pj's to my son crashed asleep on the lounge ;)

The sub-title for this layout could read 'there is always one crazy one in the family' ;)

Hello June!!!

It's scary how quickly the months are disappearing...I know, I say it each & every month ;) & each & every month I hope I manage to do more scrapping than the last! I still need to learn to make myself a priority...it's ok to create some 'me time'!

The June challenge over @ 123 Challenge Blog is...

I had fun with this criteria...I instantly knew what photo I wanted to use with the grey! This precious photo was taken by my stepmother during her recent trip to Antartica.

The KIU challenged proved to be a bit more challenging for us, but the design team certainly did not fail to deliver! Check out their layouts here, for this months 'Project Life' inspired layout, using a minimum of 3 photos, with journaling of your week.
